Today,
research has been carried out into hat users think of the design and what they
would recommend. Two questions were asked to the users. The first question was
the same question as was asked during the earlier research at the beginning of
the design process. This question was: The truck is in front of a red traffic
light and wants to turn right. You arrive with your bike where would you stand?
A, B, C, D, E, F or G. (see below)
We have
made a prototype and show it to the user. This prototype was 1:20, presumably
the scale did influence the results of the research because the images were
smaller than in reality.
For the
second question we showed the user different shape variations of the truck and
asked which they found the most clear.
The tips of the user about our design:
Contrast
Use the
colors black and white because they are the biggest contrast of each other.
The dead
corners do not stand out.
The red
color of the dead corners does not stand out because the trucks are also red,
perhaps you can indicate the safe zones with green instead of working with
green.
Put a
frame around the sticker so that the sticker stands out better. Because now it
seems like
Lights
The
green lights are confusing because I now have the idea that it is safe to
continue driving.
The
lights on the side of the truck are only visible when you are on the side
yourself. You only see this at the last moment.
At the
lights at the back, I find the green lights unclear, red lights would ensure
that I know much more clearly where it is dangerous.
The
lights do not help on the side.
Use
reflective pieces.
I
thought the lights were decoration.
Sticker
side truck
The
lights and the color gradually change from red to green, so it is not clear to
me from where it is dangerous. It would help if it directly changes color.
I would
not follow the arrows on the side because I do not turn around when I am
standing in the blind spot.
By group
pressure I would not follow the arrows but just drive forward.
Sticker
on the back of the truck
It is
not noticeable that a truck is shown.
Observations
When
asking the first question, nobody looks at the back of the truck.
These
tips resulted in the images below.
